Charles Hayter

Charles Hayter, M.D., is a physician, oncologist, award‑winning playwright and author, based in Toronto, Canada. He is passionate about returning humanity and personal connection to medical care, as well as the use of story and drama to illuminate medical practice.

His story The Boy Who Loved Alice was long-listed from a field of >1300 entries for the 2025 CBC Nonfiction Prize.
